Bloom 2010

Last Thursday I was given an opportunity to take part in a photowalk at the Bloom 2010 show, I expected a lot of flowers, gardens and green fingers and I was not disappointed in that regard, but there was also amazing food and even better exhibitors there too. The sun was shining and the show gardens looked stunning.

This is a shot from on of the show gardens that really grabbed my fancy.

Well I never thought it, wedding photos take a long time to process up, but I am back and posting again! I loved taking this photo when I was on holiday, it was the last morning before we had to fly home and I had decided to take a walk down to the port, the landscape is quite barren and when I spotted this red flower resting on a fallen pine cone I had to take the picture.

Oh my god its been so long folks! not only that I have not had the camera out for ages, so I had to dig through the archives but I did find this little gem of a photo!

Hopefully in this cold weather it can remind you that spring is not that far away again!

Soft Reeds

I have gone for a very soft looking photograph today, I dunno why, I suppose its the weekend and I feel great.

I am also pleased to announce that I have decided to take my copyrighting a bit more seriously now on mcawilliams.com, and as of tonight all images, past and future, will be watermarked. I have taken this step due to the fact that I have always said if someone wants an image, once its not for commercial use ie. a personal blog etc, you are more then welcome to it once you let me know and also dont do the silly thing of hotlinking to my images.

Well this has fallen on many a deaf ear and so things have to change, watermarking is step number one, behind the scenes myself and my hosts are going to work on the images that have been hotlinked already.

Powerscourt rose and the trinity

Normal service has resumed, but honestly a lot of good has come from that last post. Once I know more I will be sure to post up about it.

Anyhow another shot from my day at Powerscourt, this time down at the rose bushes they have, I hate roses but the scent of these guys was incredible, so strong and so nice. I was thrilled to be able to take a photo of a rose without greenfly or any major blemishes. Pity I had to go and desaturate it and make it all dark and gloomy then.

Ah well I like the shot, not to sure about my wanky name for the post though.

Dandelion Seed Head

Every year my garden gets inundated with these, I cant stand Dandelions, the roots from them go so far down into the ground that you can never fully get rid of them and they multiply at a remarkable rate.

The seed head though, is amazing to take pictures of. To me it looks like an explosion of fireworks.

Next week my back garden is going to change in a very big way, we have decided to extend the house so I shall try to take some pictures of the build over the next 4 weeks.

Peruvian Lily

Updated due to my stupidity in naming the flower incorrectly, thanks Debbie

Myself and Paula (well more Paula) fell in love with this flower many years ago, possibly 6 years ago. Its a Peruvian lily. The great thing about this plant is that it has continued to grow like crazy every year, more flowers appear on a regular basis and this year with our mild winter it even flowered in January, WTF.

Anyhow the flower itself is stunning, I think you will agree.

On another note this bank holiday weekend a photomeet has been planned, to take in the Maritime festival that is running in Dublin this weekend. We plan on meeting at the Harbourmaster at 1pm and will stop taking pictures at 4pm. If you are out and about come meet us there, there is a facebook page also if you want to let us know you are coming.

Winter ending?

Its amazing really did we ever really see winter, I still have geraniums growing outside and get this they are still flowering aswell. But it is great to see daffodils and crocus’s all starting to shoot up.

Winter is officially over.

On another topic altogether McAWilliams has got through the first round of judging for the Blog Awards, along with 21 others, so in relation to a shortlist it did not happen, so a second round of judging will trim it down to 10 or 11.

So I would love to say I am shortlisted but dont feel I can just yet, congrats to the other 20 that got on the list some old hats at this game now and some great new ones too.

God the Irish weather has really come back with a bang 5 weeks of hot sunny days and now the clouds have returned and have not lifted since last thursday.

So here is a nice shot of flowers with drops of water forming on the petals.
