Irish National Heritage Park a dolmen

History lesson number 3. This my dear visitors is a dolmen in the Irish National Heritage Park.

this quote from Wikipedia explains all.

A Dolmen is a type of single-chamber megalithic tomb, usually consisting of three or more upright stones (megaliths) supporting a large flat horizontal capstone (table). Most date from the early Neolithic period (4000 BC to 3000 BC). Dolmens were usually covered with earth or smaller stones to form a barrow, though in many cases that covering has weathered away, leaving only the stone ‘skeleton’ of the burial mound intact.

The largest dolmen in Europe is the Browneshill Dolmen in County Carlow, Ireland. It’s capstone weighs about 150 tonnes.
For lesson 4 tomorrow I shall be teaching you all about Crannogs.

The weather in Ireland is appalling, non stop rain, the occasional bit of thunder and grey grey clouds. It aint really photographic to be honest. So I decided while listening to some music in work today to take a picture of the desk my clients use.

Booking with us means you get me to work with which is a huge plus but you also get these cute little Cadburys mini bars and a coffee to boot.

I was asked to take some pictures of my in laws new bathroom a few weeks back and to be fair I could have spent longer at it, although they were happy with the shots I took, I on the other hand, only thought this one was worthy of a post, dunno why, I just like it.

While walking down to Grafton Street yesterday the lads and lassies decided to get a coffee. I stood outside looking for stuff to take some pictures of, and found this funny scene an empty bottle of Heineken in a phone booth.

I am sure this is not the sort of photo that Eircom will be running to me to buy.

Work Phone

I love putting up images that are so ordinary, but have great meaning to me.

I will not have to look at this phone on Thursday or Friday as I am off work those 2 days, oh yes a nice long weekend for me. I have some mates coming over from abroad for the weekend so I will probably be taking in some of the tourist venues that Irish people generally don’t go to although my old haunt Glendalough may be a spot we will venture down to.

So in theory I should have plenty of pictures to show from the next few days.
