Stockholms Haga Park Copper Tents

Another one of the many hundreds of photos taken in Sweden, this time from Haga Park, and the cooper tents were built in 1787-90 and designed by Louis Jean Desprez. He proposed that all the façades of the buildings should be designed as tents, clad in decoratively painted copper plate. However, tent façades were only built on the side facing the main lawns, which still gives the desired illusion of a sultan’s encampment on the edge of the forest.

Today the middle copper tent is home to the Haga Park Museum. The tent to the east houses a restaurant and the one on the western side is accommodation. The copper tents are a national monument.

If you can remember back 3 days ago and my purple bin shot this would be the view directly behind me. This is looking back on Kildare Street to the Museum there.

This is a shot I took while waiting on the number 145 bus to take me home. It was nice to be standing there while there was still a bit of light available, although it was running out fast. Another nice thing was that after the terrible weather we have been having recently, I managed to take this picture while the rain subsided.

On another note I plan on making numerous changes to the site over the next week. The Blog awards really have rejuvenated my interest in blogging and I feel its time my site changed a bit.

First changes should be visible now such as links to irishblogs.ie and Irishblogs.info, my second change would be that my info is contained under the main image as well as in comments. Please let me know what you think and let me know of anything you would like to change.
