Totally eclipsed last years!
Update: Fair do’s Redmum for this shot of me taking the shot above, now all we need is a picture of someone taking a picture of Red taking that shot and the circle continues.
Well if you are seeing this post…
YOU CAME BACK!
I apologise for missing the past two days but as you are aware I had two awards do’s to go to and I have to say last nights blog awards were excellent. Myself, my wife Paula and my Brother David went. Fair play to Damien Mulley for putting so much time and effort into it. He fully deserved the contribution to blogging award.
I also must congratulate all the winners especially headphoneland for winning the photoblog category.
Then of course I must say it was great to meet so many of my daily visits Caitriona and Aonghus (thanks for the holga), Rymus (thanks for babysitting my camera over night), Ryan’s Girlfriend/fiance/wife Sandy, Rick, Fustar and Jess, Redmum and believe it or not Twenty Major. It was also fantastic to meet other folk who introduced themselves to me namely Iced coffee, Infact,ah and Sluggerotoole. If I have left anyone out I apologise but you probably started talking to me when I was forgetful due to drink.
Another weird thing last night was an eclipse of the moon and it went a fantastic orangy colour which was pretty special. I was fairly drunk as my exif info shows but if you are looking for the cycle of the eclipse may I recommend you look at my buddies shots from England, Malc has created a brilliant montage of shots.
I have a few more pictures from the night which I shall probably put up over the week but Rymus was the main photographer for the evening so as soon as he has his photos up I will link to them, (jesus you would wanna see the gear that guy has made me sick with envy).
God that was one hell of a link fest

Anyway it was lovely to meet you.

Great shots malc, at least you captured the whole event. And hey the nomination did me fine, it was great to be up there with the best photobloggers out there in Ireland.
Redmum I have to say I am looking forward to seeing those images on Flickr and it was fantastic meeting you and congrats on the award you picked up. More importantly seeing the photobloggers been nearly the last to leave was great, yes… we rock

Wowzers, that shot came out really well! I nearly projectile vomited with disgust when I realised I’d left my 1.4x TC on my desk at home, it would have been just the trick for some impromptu eclipse photography.

Terrific shot and very nice to meet you last night.
I seem to remember you squatting on the floor as we roared to make ourselves heard over the dishco music.
I probably didn’t say half of what you think you heard me say. And vice versa.

So glad you didn’t let me down!I was chillaxing in mom’s couch and only once crawled over to the window and saw the moon all red. Crawling back to the couch I was hoping you’d manage to get decent pictures of it for me to see today. And yes, of course you did. So THANKS! Malc’s bunch of pics are cool too.
And for the awards… you know you are a winner anyway

I was up that night as well useing my Canon 400D with the basic Kit lens, 55mm , I knew I wouldnt get good up close shots with the kit lens that came with it but i still wanted to practice with Shutter speed, Apeture etc…etc… cause im defo getting a telephoto lens!! any recomendations on the purchase of a zoomlens for the Canon 400D??
neil says:
similar enough question to MacBuckley.
From RedMum’s photo it looks like you’re using the Sigma 70-300mm. Am I right?
I’m thinking of getting it as my next lens. Would you recommend it?
